Meet our Founder at REIGN, An Alopecia Movement

Mother and adovacte for people who champion alopecia, Rahshida Mosby is one of inner-city Washington's most respected voices, helping women and children navigate their journey and triumhantly tell their story. Drawing from her own personal alopecia journey, she gives the alopecia community a safe space to come together and connect, the children, a place to learn about their natural beauty and grow in confidence, and our city, the knowledge and courage to champion support for the indiviudals we adore.

We absolutely                  our bold, possibly bald,

and beautiful alopecia peeps, and of course, our supporters.

We have seen great things develop along our journey! We know that our new website will manifest greater purpose, awareness, and empowerment to women living with alopecia and those who share in their journey. We dedicate this web presence to our "true blues" friends, family members, and support within the medical, beauty and wellness industies.

As for 2016, We now REIGN equipped with much more than we had even imagined. REIGN, An Alopecia Movement says Thank You and hopes that our new site will inspire and motivate YOU to join us for our upcoming events and support group meetings. Our group encourages you to continue to: Embrace your authentic beauty, Share your TRUTH with others, And REIGN!!!

In Unity and LOVE,

an Alopecia Movement

-Alopecia areata is an autoimmune disease. Normally the immune system protects the body against infection and disease. In an autoimmune disease, the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks some part of your own body. In alopecia areata, the immune system attacks the hair follicles.

-There is no cure for alopecia areata. There are no drugs approved to treat it. Doctors may use medicines approved for other diseases to help hair grow back but every persons response/reaction to treatment is different.

-Anyone can have alopecia areata. It often begins in childhood. There is a slightly increased risk of having the disease if you have a close family member with the disease.

REIGN, an Alopecia Movement, is a support group, grounded in DC, for women and children living with alopecia. The organization began through the very personal journey of its founder, Rashida Mosby, a woman living with alopecia since 2009. In response to  feelings of loss, fear, frustration, uncertainity, and living in isolation REIGN, an Alopecia Movement was born.
