REIGN, an Alopecia Movement, is  a support group for women and children living with alopecia. The orgainization began through the very personal journey of its founder, Rashida Mosby, a woman living with alopecia since 2009. In response to the feeling of loss, fear, frustration, uncertainty, and living in isoation REIGN, an Alopecia Movement was born.

The organization seeks to empower women to re-gain their sense of beauty and confidence, re-claim their position of power, and reign in their personal lives in the midst of their struggle. We aim to raise awareness about alopecia and its devastating social-emotional impact by bringing images of bald women to the forefront as well as celebrating the authentic beauty of women regardless of the circumstances.

Our partnerships bridge the gap between professionals in the medical, wellness, and beauty industries which is fundamental for the progression of this underserved community. A considerable amount of our time is devoted to discovering meaningful and creative ways to engage and unite this community while providing support and highlighting the resources available within the local community.  We also constantly seek to spread awareness about alopecia and remove the myths and feelings of isolation!

On the left, my inspiration for life, Reign! My daughter's LOVE for me, inspite of alopecia was the motivation and encouragement for starting my movement and embracing my authentic beauty. It was important that my group would be named after her, REIGN, which was given to her because of it's undeniable strength in meaning.

REIGN, An Alopecia Movement chooses the Duafe "wooden comb" symbol to inspire positive femine qualities and to provide encouragement in health and beauty. The duafe was a prized possession of the Akan woman, used to comb and plait her hair.
